Our own crew wraps furniture, packs what you’ve asked us to, and checks off every item on the inventory as it goes on the truck.
Deliver and check
Your goods arrive in the delivery window on your paperwork. We unload, set up furniture, and you check items off the same inventory.
Know your estimate type
- Binding estimate
- The price is locked in writing before the move. You pay that amount unless you add items or services.
- Non-binding estimate
- The final price is based on the actual weight of your shipment. Federal rules cap what you pay at delivery at 110% of the estimate; any balance above that is billed later.
- Binding not-to-exceed
- You pay the lower of the estimate or the actual weight-based price, so the estimate is your ceiling.

- Released value (no extra charge)
- Covers 60 cents per pound per item. A 25-pound TV that’s damaged would be worth $15. You must sign to choose it.
- Full value protection
- We repair the item, replace it, or pay its current market value. It costs extra, and it’s what you get by default if you don’t sign for released value.

Income tax is lower, and it just dropped again. West Virginia has a graduated income tax. A 5% cut signed in March 2026 applies to the whole 2026 tax year, so rates now run from 2.11% to 4.58%, and the top rate starts at $60,000 of taxable income. California’s rates climb to 13.3%. The corporate income tax is a flat 6.5%.
Property tax is low, but your car gets taxed too. Homeowners pay about 0.51% of their home’s value a year on average. Counties also charge a yearly personal property tax on vehicles, and you’ll need the paid receipt to renew your registration.
Sales tax: 6% statewide, plus up to 1% in cities that add a local tax.
Mountains and real winters. Almost the whole state is hills and hollows, and winters bring snow and ice, especially at higher elevations. If you’re moving between December and March, leave a little room in your delivery dates.

Your First 30 Days in West Virginia: Car and License
West Virginia gives new residents 30 days to title and register their cars and 30 days to get a West Virginia driver’s license. There’s also a safety inspection step that catches a lot of Californians off guard.
