Your goods arrive in the delivery window on your paperwork. We unload, set up furniture, and you check items off the same inventory.
Know your estimate type
- Binding estimate
- The price is locked in writing before the move. You pay that amount unless you add items or services.
- Non-binding estimate
- The final price is based on the actual weight of your shipment. Federal rules cap what you pay at delivery at 110% of the estimate; any balance above that is billed later.
- Binding not-to-exceed
- You pay the lower of the estimate or the actual weight-based price, so the estimate is your ceiling.

- Released value (no extra charge)
- Covers 60 cents per pound per item. A 25-pound TV that’s damaged would be worth $15. You must sign to choose it.
- Full value protection
- We repair the item, replace it, or pay its current market value. It costs extra, and it’s what you get by default if you don’t sign for released value.

What Changes When You Move From California to Oklahoma
Your housing budget goes much further. The typical Oklahoma home is worth about $221,000, versus about $762,000 in California (Zillow, September 2026). That’s less than a third of the California figure. Even Edmond, one of the pricier suburbs, sits around $354,000.
A lower income tax. Oklahoma cut its top personal income tax rate to 4.5% starting in 2026. That rate applies to taxable income above about $7,200 for single filers and $12,200 for joint filers, so most working households pay close to 4.5% on most of their income. California’s rates run as high as 13.3%.
Sales tax is split between state and city. The state rate is 4.5%, and cities and counties add their own, for a combined average around 9% (Tax Foundation, 2026). Since August 2024, groceries are exempt from the state portion, though local sales tax still applies.
Property tax is moderate. Homeowners pay about 0.79% of home value a year on average (Tax Foundation). On a $221,000 home, that’s far less in dollars than most Californians pay today.

Your First 30 Days in Oklahoma: Tag, Title and License
Oklahoma runs licenses and vehicle titles through Service Oklahoma and its Licensed Operator locations (the old tag agencies). Registration has a 30-day window before penalties start, so put it near the top of your list.
Insure your car in Oklahoma
You’ll need proof of Oklahoma insurance to title the car. Call your insurer before you leave California so the policy is ready when you arrive.
Title and register within 30 days
Visit Service Oklahoma or a Licensed Operator with your California title, Form 701-6, your driver license, proof of Oklahoma insurance and the car itself. Out-of-state vehicles get a VIN inspection, and excise tax and fees are due at your visit. Late penalties start after 30 days.
Skip the smog check
Oklahoma doesn’t require emissions testing to register a vehicle, so there’s no inspection appointment to book before your visit.
Transfer your driver license
New residents need an Oklahoma license. With a valid California license and a clean record, you can usually transfer it without the written or drive test. Bring proof of identity, lawful presence, Oklahoma residency (two proofs for REAL ID) and your Social Security number.
