Our own crew wraps furniture, packs what you’ve asked us to, and checks off every item on the inventory as it goes on the truck.
Deliver and check
Your goods arrive in the delivery window on your paperwork. We unload, set up furniture, and you check items off the same inventory.
Know your estimate type
- Binding estimate
- The price is locked in writing before the move. You pay that amount unless you add items or services.
- Non-binding estimate
- The final price is based on the actual weight of your shipment. Federal rules cap what you pay at delivery at 110% of the estimate; any balance above that is billed later.
- Binding not-to-exceed
- You pay the lower of the estimate or the actual weight-based price, so the estimate is your ceiling.
Know your protection level
- Released value (no extra charge)
- Covers 60 cents per pound per item. A 25-pound TV that’s damaged would be worth $15. You must sign to choose it.
- Full value protection
- We repair the item, replace it, or pay its current market value. It costs extra, and it’s what you get by default if you don’t sign for released value.

A flat income tax, plus a county tax. Indiana taxes income at a flat 2.95% for 2026. Every county adds its own local income tax on top, from 0.5% to 3% depending on where you live; Marion County (Indianapolis) is 2.02%. Even combined, that’s well under California’s top rate of 13.3%.
Simple sales tax, capped property tax. Sales tax is 7% everywhere in the state, with no local add-on. Property taxes on your primary home are capped by the state constitution at 1% of assessed value, and owner-occupied homes pay about 0.76% on average.
Real seasons. Expect humid summers and cold, snowy winters, especially in the north near Lake Michigan. If you can, schedule your move between April and October.

After You Arrive
Your First 60 Days in Indiana: License and Car
Indiana gives new residents 60 days to get an Indiana driver’s license and 60 days to title and register their cars with the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV). Both are done in person at a BMV branch.
Get Indiana car insurance
You’ll need proof of insurance to register your car, so switch your policy to your Indiana address first.
Get your Indiana license within 60 days
Bring your California license, plus proof of identity, lawful status, Social Security number and Indiana residency. You’ll surrender the California license and pass a vision screening. With a valid license, there’s no written test.
Title and register your car within 60 days
Bring your California title and drive the car to the branch, where staff check the VIN at no charge. Applying late adds an administrative penalty. You won’t pay Indiana sales tax on a car you already owned in California.
Emissions test only in Lake and Porter counties
If you’re moving to Lake or Porter County in northwest Indiana, your car needs an emissions test before registration. The rest of the state has no smog check.
