- The price is locked in writing before the move. You pay that amount unless you add items or services.
- Non-binding estimate
- The final price is based on the actual weight of your shipment. Federal rules cap what you pay at delivery at 110% of the estimate; any balance above that is billed later.
- Binding not-to-exceed
- You pay the lower of the estimate or the actual weight-based price, so the estimate is your ceiling.

Your First 90 Days in Connecticut: Car and License
Connecticut gives new residents 90 days to transfer a driver license and register a car. DMV services for both are by appointment, so book early. Here’s the order the DMV lays out.
Get Connecticut insurance
You’ll need proof of insurance that meets Connecticut’s requirements before DMV will register your car. Call your insurer before the move so the policy is ready.
Get an emissions test or VIN verification
Cars older than four model years need a Connecticut emissions test before registration. Newer cars that are exempt from testing get a VIN verification instead. Bring the inspection report to your appointment.
Register your car within 90 days
Registration transfers are done by appointment only at a DMV hub office or the Enfield branch. Bring ID, proof of insurance, Form H-13B, your title documents and the inspection report.
Transfer your driver license within 90 days
Most California drivers can transfer their license with a vision test and no road test. You can do it at the same appointment as your registration. Fees are a $40 application fee plus an $84 license fee.
